Consultant - Communications Assistant
Overview
The Center for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF) is seeking to recruit a Communications Assistant (consultancy) to support the implementation of communication activities. The role will involve assisting in the development and dissemination of content; supporting the planning, implementation and reporting of communication activities; and contributing to the overall visibility of CIFOR-ICRAF’s work. This role is suited to a motivated and detail-oriented communicator who thrives in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
Duties and responsibilities
- Support the planning and implementation of communications activities, including tracking tasks and deadlines.
- Support the production of outreach and visibility content including blogs, articles, social media posts, newsletters and publications.
- Assist in compiling and updating media contact lists, tracking media coverage, and preparing briefing documents and press kits as needed.
- Support the drafting and preparation of communication reports and updates.
- Undertake other outreach, awareness, and visibility communication activities as agreed upon.
Education, knowledge and experience
• Minimum qualification of bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or a related field.
• Excellent English language skills (both verbal and written).
• A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in the implementation of communication strategies.
• Experience in journalism, writing, editing and content creation (blogs, impact stories and photography).
• Proven ability to effectively undertake communication activities.
• Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
• Excellent understanding of different communication formats and channels, as well as strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media.
• Background and understanding of environment, climate, forestry or related subject areas and science communication.
