Role Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Financial Services Officer, the Tribe Lead – Credit will be responsible for leading a team of professionals in the development and delivery of credit products and services. He/She will work closely with other Tribe Leads and stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives, as well as identifying opportunities for innovation and growth. He/She will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of the Credit Tribe and ensuring that it meets its objectives, while adhering to regulatory requirements and risk management standards.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
• Lead the Credit Tribe and work collaboratively with other Tribe Leads and stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
• Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for the Credit Tribe that supports the organization's mission and vision.
• Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to a team of professionals in the development and delivery of credit products and services.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, risk and compliance teams, and regulators
• Ensure that the Credit Tribe operates within regulatory requirements and risk management standards, and that risks are identified, monitored, and managed appropriately
• Drive innovation and growth opportunities within the Credit Tribe, leveraging emerging technologies and market trends to deliver new and differentiated credit products and services
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Credit Tribe, ensuring that processes are streamlined, efficient, and effective.
• Data Analytics: Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to extract insights from operational data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. Collaborate with data teams to develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations for monitoring operational performance.
• Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Establish, track, and report on key performance indicators related to fintech operations. Define and monitor metrics such as transaction processing time, error rates, customer satisfaction scores, and operational efficiency. Use KPIs to drive performance improvements and identify areas for optimization.
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, or related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in financial services, with a focus on credit products and services.
• Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of leading high performing teams.
• Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and risk management standards in financial services.
• Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans and roadmaps.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. - 3 - C2 - Safaricom Internal
• Ability to think strategically and drive innovation and growth within the Credit Tribe. • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other Tribe Leads and stakeholders to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
• Data Analytics Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, such as SQL, Python, R, or Excel. Experience in extracting, transforming, and analyzing large datasets to derive actionable insights and drive operational improvements
• Performance Measurement: Strong understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs) and their application in measuring operational performance. Ability to define, track, and report on relevant KPIs to monitor and improve fintech operations

Responsibilities
Network Operations Support
- Support general operations and maintenance of solar energy installations on Safaricom BTS, MSR and data center sites by ensuring the maintenance service providers have appropriate kits, carry out regular cleaning of the solar panels and replace faulty parts in time to ensure optimal generation of solar energy.
- Compile and regularly share up-to-date solar energy maintenance reports with relevant stakeholders for action where necessary.
- Liaise with Data Center Operations, Energy Planning & Implementation teams, and Regional Network Maintenance teams to ensure optimized solar energy production and utilization on Safaricom BTS, MSR and data center sites.
- Provide technical Support for Collocation Business through optimal energy demand management and project execution.
- Oversee periodic audit of energy installations on the Safaricom BTS, MSR and data center sites.
Contract Management
- Coordinate quarterly and annual performance evaluation of the network maintenance services providers (MSPs) and Build-to-Suit contractors with respect to service level agreements (SLAs) for network availability, prepare relevant reports and oversee the PIP process where applicable.
- Review monthly performance of the network maintenance services providers (MSPs) and Build-to-Suit contractors with respect to service level agreements (SLAs) for network availability and ensure any applicable service credits and penalties are executed in time.
- Carry out regular site inspections to ensure network maintenance services providers (MSPs) adhere to Safaricom occupation health and safety (OHS) requirements.
- Coordinate weekly and monthly meetings with network maintenance services providers (MSPs) and other stakeholders.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on delivery of network energy maintenance projects and tasks.
- Provide required support to the processes of competitive Expression of Interest (EOI), Request for Proposals (RFP) and Request for Quotations (RFQ) for network maintenance services and other assigned NOPEX projects.
NOPEX Management
- Provide required support for efficient planning, allocation and utilization of NOPEX budget for network energy operations and maintenance projects/functions.
- Review and approve network energy project quotations from contractors to ensure they conform to scope of works and approved/contractual rates.
- Drive cost saving initiatives with respect to network energy operations and maintenance projects/functions through automation, innovation and process improvements
Qualifications
- A minimum of bachelor’s degree in electrical & electronics, Engineering, Telecommunication, Computer, IT or related field.
- Should have demonstratable at least 2yrs experience working in energy system in telecommunication environment.
- Should demonstrate expertise IT/computer Literacy.
- Should demonstrate proficiency in Data analytical tools and presentation skills.
- Knowledge and accreditation in Data Center and Energy Management systems including, CEM/CMVP and DCIM is an added advantage.
- Working knowledge and accreditation in electrical or solar systems installation and commissioning such as T1/T2 or T3.
