Description

Our client a Christian School in the Education Sector, is looking for an Assistant Head of Department Boarding. S/He will be responsible for assisting the HOD – Boarding in overseeing the welfare, discipline, health, and holistic development of boarding students while ensuring effective implementation of boarding routines, policies, and departmental standards.

Responsibilities 

1. Boarding Operations and Student Welfare

  • Assist in ensuring students adhere to routines, including waking, grooming, meals, study time, and bedtime.
  • Monitor student hygiene and uniform standards.
  • Ensure boarding areas are clean, well-maintained, and beds are neatly made.

2. Discipline and Behavior Management

  • Reinforce boarding rules and the student code of conduct.
  • Support fair, firm, and respectful discipline in line with the school’s values.
  • Report and document disciplinary cases and follow up with the HOD as needed.

3. Mentorship, Co-Curricular & Life Skills

  • Organize and participate in mentorship and life skills sessions.
  • Facilitate student participation in sports, spiritual activities, and recreational programs.

4. Ensure submission of the following reports: daily, weekly, monthly and termly

  • Hygiene and Health Support
  • Support the implementation of hygiene schedules.
  • Follow up on sick students and ensure medical needs are addressed promptly.

5. Staff Support and Collaboration

  • Supervise and support boarding assistants during shifts.
  • Ensure that tasks assigned by the HOD are followed through.
  • Assist in coordinating duty schedules and team performance tracking.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Counselling Psychology or Housekeeping or Hospitality and Accommodation Management
  • Guidance and Mentorship training certification will be added advantage
  • Must be a Christian
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children or in a school boarding environment
  • Valid certificate of good conduct
