Description

Our client a Christian School in the Education Sector, is looking for a School Principal. They will be responsible for overseeing activities of the school and is involved in the supervision and management of general academic activities, will be responsible for providing strategic direction in the school. S/He Will be responsible for developing standardized curricula, assessing teaching methods, monitoring student achievement, encouraging parent involvement, and revising and implementing policies and procedures.

Key Results Areas

  • Ensure timely academic reports
  • Effective handling of parents’ issues, queries and concerns
  • Ensure 100% alignment to corporate culture and school values
  • Ensure effective communication with the school and parents

RESPONSIBILITIES 

LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY ROLE

  • Implementation of academic programs – Work with Academic Heads of Departments to plan and implement academic programs such as orientation, courses, seminars, in services and other training programs offered by Mirema school.
  • Strategic management – Strategically plan by developing strategic initiatives, establishing collaborative work structures and climate, and developing procedures for monitoring results.
  • Budgeting- Development of the Academic budget. Ensure appropriate utilization of the academic’s budget.
  • Promoting off extracurricular activities – Promote and support a high degree of student morale through curricular and extracurricular activities and services and coordinate the participation of all members of the teaching staff in the extracurricular program.
  • Scheduling of classes and events – Ensure the smooth running of classes and lessons by reviewing and approving timetables, class lists and schedules, and supervision schedules and be responsible for their functioning.

POLICY FORMULATION

  • Act as a leader in creating and enhancing academic policies and procedures across the academic departments as well as the rest of the school.
  • Ensuring that there is consistency in procedures and policies across the academic departments and that these policies are appropriately set for the achievement of the business’s overall goals and objectives
  • Collaborating with external partners such as the Ministry of Education -County Level, service providers, and in all matters regarding schools’ compliance policies and procedures.

RESEARCH/OPPORTUNITIES: 

  • Take initiative in ensuring institutional compliance with state requirements as well as with accepted academic principles. 
  • Offer recommendations for systems improvements across the academic departments and oversee the implementation of approved changes across the departments upon approval.

Qualifications

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Education
  • 5 years’ relevant managerial and leadership experience
  • At least 6 years relevant Teaching Experience
  • Valid certificate of good conduct
  • TSC registration
