Description
Our client, a Christian School in the Education Sector, is looking for Special Needs Intern . The ideal candidate will create an inclusive, safe, and spiritually enriching environment that fosters the holistic development of each child.
Duties
- Assist in Classroom Instruction
- Support lead special education teacher in delivering lessons and activities tailored to students with diverse learning needs.
- Reinforce concepts taught by providing individual or small-group assistance.
- Support Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Help implement and monitor student-specific goals as outlined in their IEPs.
- Document observations and provide input for progress reports under supervision.
- Foster a Safe and Inclusive Environment
- Assist in creating a supportive, respectful, and adaptive classroom environment for students with disabilities.
- Promote social integration and inclusion within the classroom and school environment.
- Classroom Management Support
- Aid in managing behavior using approved behavioral strategies and positive reinforcement.
- Observe and report behavioral incidents or concerns to the lead teacher
- Adapt Learning Materials
- Help modify learning materials and resources to meet the unique needs of students with cognitive, physical, or emotional challenges.
- Personal Care Assistance (if required)
- Support students with mobility, feeding, toileting, or other personal care tasks, where appropriate and with proper guidance and training.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Maintain open communication with the supervising teacher and support staff.
- Attend team meetings and contribute observations that can help inform instructional strategies.
- Professional Development and Learning
- Engage in training opportunities to deepen understanding of special education practices.
- Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of student participation, behavior, and progress as instructed.
- Ensure confidentiality of student information at all times.
- Support Extra-Curricular and Therapy Activities
- Assist students during therapy sessions, outdoor activities, or school events as needed.
Qualifications
1.Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in special needs
2.Minimum one(1) year of relevant teaching Experience
3.TSC Number (is a must)
4.Proficiency in Computer Applications.
