Job Purpose:
The role focuses on environmental and social risk due diligence, ESG capacity building. Key responsibilities include implementing sustainability risk frameworks, and ensuring compliance through data analytics. It also involves identifying and managing sustainability opportunities, supporting ESG policy development, assessing vendor risks, and following up on action plans. Administrative duties support the broader goal of integrating sustainability into financial operations while ensuring regulatory compliance and ESG growth. The role is at Senior Officer level.
Key Responsibilities:
- ESRM procedures implementation Quality Assurance for climate finance by generating and disseminating the monthly quality assurance report.
- Conducting Environmental and Social Risk due diligence (both desk-top and site visit based) for client facility/loan requests
- Conducting Health Safety and Environment Due Diligence (HSESDD) of suppliers and vendors
- Monitoring environmental and social performance of multiple portfolio clients
- Monitoring and tracking of client implementation of environmental and social risk action plans (ESAP’s)
- ESRM and ESDD support for Equity Group Subsidiaries
- Financial mobilization on New to Bank
- Deposit growth from opportunities
- Green Finance Loan Growth
- Effective Implementation of Sustainability Risk Management Framework and Procedures in EBKL including training.
- Supporting data and analytics on Environmental and Social Risk Management for compliance and DFI reporting.
- Environmental and Social Risk Management through due diligence assessment of the requests assigned within the SLA
- Sustainability opportunities Management – follow up and closure on climate finance opportunities identified during assessment process
- Contributing to the wider organizational ESG policy, procedures and tool development and implementation
- Support supply chain with vendor E&S risk assessments during onboarding
- Follow up on closure of E&S action plans from client and vendor assessments
- General Administrative duties
Qualifications
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline – environment/social sciences
- Sustainability & Climate Risk Specialist- Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) added advantage
- 2 - 4 years in ESG and sustainability
- 2 - 3 years of banking experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Environmental & Social Risk Assessment – Conducting due diligence, site visits, and compliance evaluations.
- ESG & Sustainability Expertise – Understanding sustainability frameworks, green finance, and climate-related risks.
- Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge – Ensuring adherence to environmental, social, and financial regulations.
- Data & Analytics Proficiency – Managing sustainability reporting and tracking ESG performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborating with clients, vendors, and internal teams to drive ESG initiatives.
- Training & Capacity Building – Educating staff on sustainability principles and risk management.
- Project & Action Plan Management – Following up on ESG-related action plans for clients and vendors.
- Policy & Framework Implementation – Contributing to ESG policy development and sustainability strategies.
- Administrative & Organizational Skills – Managing documentation, reporting, and operational tasks efficiently.
