| Job Description | Job purpose To diagnose and treat diseases by utilizing radiopharmaceuticals and advanced imaging techniques, interpreting nuclear medicine studies, and providing therapeutic interventions while ensuring patient safety and adherence to radiation protection protocols. Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to the Head, Integrated Molecular Imaging Centre, the position holder will be responsible for the following: i. Evaluating patient medical history and clinical indications to determine suitability for nuclear medicine procedures. ii. Prescribing and supervising diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures, including PET/CT, SPECT, and radionuclide therapies. iii. Interpreting nuclear imaging studies and preparing comprehensive diagnostic reports for referring physicians. iv. Ensuring safe preparation, administration, and handling of radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with radiation safety standards. v. Monitoring patients during and after procedures for adverse reactions and providing appropriate interventions. vi. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including oncologists, radiologists, and technologists, to optimize patient care. vii. Implementing radiation protection protocols for patients, staff, and the environment in accordance with regulatory requirements. viii. | Job Specification | Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements i. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from an institution recognized by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council. ii. Master of Medicine in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent from a recognized institution by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council. iii. Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council. iv. Retention in the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council register. v. Recognition as a Specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council. vi. Valid Practice License as a specialist from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council. vii. Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover. viii. Proficiency in computer applications. ix. Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya. Core Competenciesi. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex treatment plans. ii. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. iii. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with patients and colleagues. iv. Leadership and mentorship in training junior medical staff. v.
