M.P Shah Hospital is looking to recruit a professional, and evidence driven person for a vacancy in the Operations Division as the Head Engineer.
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the overall purpose of this this job is to manage healthcare technologies to facilitate safe, effective, timely, patient-centered, efficient, and equitable delivery of care.

Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical support for clinical equipment, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inventory management, and on-call support.
2. Serve as the hospital’s expert on medical device management, offering guidance on regulation, risk, procurement, modification, and servicing.
3. Lead quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment use, maintenance, and repair.
4. Develop and review safety and emergency plans for critical equipment; manage recalls and safety alerts.
5. Establish preventive maintenance schedules, procedures, and training programs for technical staff.
6. Coordinate special projects such as equipment procurement, installation, upgrades, and disposals.
7. Develop and deliver safety and equipment training programs for clinical teams; evaluate devices for purchase.
8. Manage departmental budgets, contracts, and procurement, including medical equipment replacement planning.
9. Identify and address training needs for technicians and engineers to enhance departmental technical capacity.

Minimum Qualifications, Regulatory & Legal Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Biomedical Engineering from a recognized institution. A Maters degree will be an added advantage.

2. Registered Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).

3. Minimum of 8 years working experience with 3 years at senior management level in the health care sector.
4. Proven experience in project management, plant maintenance, and facility engineering.
5. Strong understanding of hospital systems (medical gases, HVAC, water supply, power distribution, and waste management).
