POST OF LECTURER GRADE 6A (FORMERLY GRADE 12A) IN THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCIAL LAW, SCHOOL OF LAW- REF: SEKU/ADV/AC/7/08/2025 (1 POSITION)

SPECIALIZATION: COMMERCIAL LAW

a) Requirements for appointment.
For appointment to this position the candidate must:

  1. Have an earned PhD in law from an accredited and recognized University.
  2. Have expertise in at least two of SEKU School of Law niche areas of Electoral law, Sustainable development law, Environmental law, Legal issues including resolution of disputes arising from dry land agriculture, Legal issues including resolution of disputes arising from management and conservation of natural resources and the environment including climate change and adaptation, use of technology in these areas etc.
  3. Proficiency in computer applications.
  4. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

OR

  1. Have a Master’s Degree in law (LL.M.) from an accredited and recognized University
  2. Possess at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level or five years in research or judicial/legal practice.
  3. Have expertise in at least two of SEKU School of Law niche areas of Electoral law, Sustainable development law, Environmental law, Legal issues including resolution of disputes arising from dryland agriculture, Legal issues including resolution of disputes arising from management and conservation of natural resources and the environment including climate change and adaptation, use of technology in these areas etc.
  4. Have a minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers.
  5. Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing and with a valid practicing license.
  6. Proficiency in computer applications
  7. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
    NB: Experience in public law practice will be an added advantage.
