Description
One of our clients in Nairobi is seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, supervising staff, and maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and efficiency. The role requires strong leadership, creativity, and the ability to perform under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily kitchen operations and food production
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure quality and consistency
- Support menu planning, daily specials, and event menus
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff
- Assist with inventory management, stock control, and cost management
- Lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
- Support preparation and execution of events and catering services
Requirements
- Proven 2 years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of diverse cuisines
- Leadership and team management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
