Job Description
Job Purpose
To develop, manage and monitor implementation of Department of Nursing and Midwifery programs and related activities in the university.
These include, but are not limited to teaching and training, curriculum development and review; research, innovation and fund-raising activities; publication and dissemination of knowledge; supervision and coordination of programs in the department. Supervision of students, and the adherence to quality assurance and accreditation requirements by relevant regulatory bodies.
The holder of this post will report to the Head of Department in the execution of his/ her duties and will contribute toward meeting the key performance indicators and targets of the department, and the overall mission and vision of the university.
Duties and responsibilities
- Teaching and training in the area of Midwifery
- Curricula development and Review
- Research and extension activities
- Engage in fund-raising activities in the Department
- Student supervision and mentoring
- Engage in professional development activities
- Engage in any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of Department, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, from time to time.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing – Midwifery
- Evidence of participation in research activities.
- Must hold a valid practice license
- Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team
- Demonstrate high level of integrity.
Experience
- At least 3 years teaching in nursing training
- At least 2 years’ experience in clinical practice
- Experience in curriculum development and evaluation
- Experience in supporting a virtual learning environment
