Description
VACANCY: ESG LEAD AT KAM
The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) is a business membership organization representingover 1000 leading manufacturing and value-added companies in Kenya. KAM has been at the forefront driving fact-based policy advocacy to shape industrial policies that strengthen and support the country’s economic development. Through evidence-based engagement, KAM partners with the Government and its agencies to foster a dynamic and flourishing manufacturing sector in Kenya, with the goal of achieving a double-digit contribution to GDP. The Sustainable African Value-Chain Initiative (SAVI) is a collaborative effort between the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) in Denmark and KAM in Kenya. SAVI aims to strengthen the sustainability and competitiveness of Kenyan businesses by helping local companies accelerate their work with green transition. In Kenya, KAM will lead national implementation, focusing on company-level ESG reporting, EUDR compliance, and value-chain collaboration for sustainability.
We seek to competitively fill the following position: -

Job Purpose:
The ESG Lead will coordinate and conduct SAVI activities in Kenya for KAM. The position combines general project management responsibilities with technical facilitation and implementation with companies. In the role the candidate will support Kenyan companies (KAM members) in successfully achieving capacity to reporting and improving their ESG performance and facilitating sustainability dialogues across selected companies value chains.
Duties & Responsibilities
i. Lead the design, localization, and integration of ESG and EUDR compliance services into KAM’s consulting portfolio under the SAVI programme.
ii. Coordinate sector prioritization, company scoping, and ESG/EUDR needs, readiness, and gap assessments across various manufacturing value chains.
iii. Oversee development and quality assurance of ESG and EUDR services and compliance roadmaps aligned with international standards.
iv. Build institutional delivery capacity at KAM through internal ESG and EUDR trainings and service delivery support.
v. Recruit, onboard, and deliver pilot cohorts for ESG reporting and EUDR compliance services.
vi. Lead baseline assessments, risk assessments, and compliance diagnostics for participating companies in collaboration with international consultants.
vii. Design, mobilize and facilitate group trainings, workshops, and awareness sessions on ESG reporting and EUDR requirements.
viii. Coordinate one-on-one technical assistance, site visits, field validations, assessments, and value-chain mapping activities.
ix. Facilitate upstream supplier engagement and multi-stakeholder dialogue to support traceability, due diligence, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements:
Education
• University degree in environmental management, engineering, business sustainability, or related field.
• Postgraduate degree or professional certification in climate change, ESG reporting, or project management is an advantage.
Personal attributes and skills:
• 5–7 years’ experience in ESG, sustainability or environment, industrial development, or climate-related projects.
• Demonstrated experience in supporting companies in carbon accounting, making ESG/EUDR strategies or climate-action plans.
• Strong ability to facilitate interactive workshops and company sessions on sustainability, and ESG integration.
• Proven ability to develop or review ESG reports and advise on sustainability indicators and disclosure standards (GRI, SASB, or equivalent).
• Experience facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogues or value-chain partnerships involving business, government, and international partners.
• Familiarity with donor-funded programme management (EU, DANIDA, GIZ, UN, etc.).
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong understanding of Kenya’s industrial base, manufacturing value chains, and green transition policies.
• Strong understanding of international green transition policies
• Excellent facilitation and communication skills for technical and company representatives’ audiences.
• Solid analytical skills and ability to translate data into practical business insights.
• Proactive, structured, and comfortable working across organizations and cultures.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and sustainability reporting tools.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
Contract and Reporting
• Full-time position hosted at KAM
• Participation in quarterly coordination and learning sessions with other SAVI country teams (Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, etc.).
