Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Midwifery/Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nurse to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive and high quality nursing care to women throughout the continuum of pregnancy, labour, delivery, and postnatal periods, as well as managing gynaecological patients. This position requires sound clinical judgment, professionalism, and a deep sense of compassion for mothers and their families.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing and midwifery care to obstetric and gynaecological patients in accordance with hospital policies and professional standards.
- Monitor and assess maternal and foetal well-being, detect complications early, and take appropriate action in collaboration with the medical team.
- Support women during labour and delivery, ensuring both physical and emotional comfort.
- Provide postnatal care, education, and counselling to mothers and families.
- Manage and maintain medical equipment within the maternity and gynaecology unit, ensuring functionality, cleanliness, and accountability.
- Document all nursing and clinical activities accurately and promptly.
Participate actively in quality improvement, patient safety, and ISO compliance initiatives. - Supervise, guide, and mentor junior staff and students in the department.

Qualifications & Experience
- Higher National Diploma in Midwifery from a recognized institution.
- Registered and licensed with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in a busy obstetrics and gynaecology or maternity unit.
- Sound knowledge of quality management systems and ISO certification standards.
- Strong leadership, managerial, and supervisory abilities.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
